Justin Wright Looking for his Second Land of Legends Raceway Checkers
Justin Wright of York, NY has been behind the wheel of a stock car for twenty years. To look at him you would think no way. Justin has looked the same, at least in this writers’ eyes, since I first met him years ago at Ransomville Speedway.
Justin’s start was in a Street Stock at Genesee Speedway in 2004. From there Justin moved up and raced a DIRTcar Sportsman. He has great memories racing with the likes of Don Spatarico, who he finished second in points to, multiple times, at the Big R. Justin would have some success in the Sportsman ranks but knew he really wanted to go Modified racing. At 37 years of age, he is entering his twelfth season in the Modified ranks, Justin competes Fridays in a 358 at Ransomville and Saturdays in a big block here at the Land of Legends raceway. Justin has six career Modified victories, one of those at the Land of Legends Raceway in 2018. He would certainly love to add to that in 2024.
His dad, Alan is by his side in the pits. “If it wasn’t for him, I’d be sitting in the grandstands. He’s my rock.” His sister Alecia and friend Billy also give him support. His grandparents, Charlie and Ruth, also cheer on Justin. Both Alan and Charlie have spent time in a race car. “Dad quit racing when I was nine years old,” said Justin. One can say racing is truly a family affair for the Wrights. Like many racers, Justin finds the most support in those closest to him.
Justin will have a new challenge soon as he and his wife, Sarah are expecting their first baby. Justin is employed by Purina Animal Nutrition as a Commodity Buyer.
Sponsoring Justin in the 2024 season is Mercer Milling, Papillon-ag, Integra Racing Shocks, Kayser Manufacturing and Bicknell Race Products.
