Kevin Root of Geneva, NY will begin his second season in the Pepsi Big Block Modified division at Land of Legends Raceway when the facility opens on Saturday, April 22nd. Kevin finished fifth in points against a tough Pepsi Big Block DIRTcar Modified field, picking up his first career victory on June 11th. Kevin had four top five finishes along with eleven top ten finishes.

Kevin, 44, is employed at Scott Jeffrey Performance as a salesman. Kevin was a two time Hoosier Racing Tire DIRTcar Sportsman champion. Kevin also spent his first big block season on the Super DIRTcar big block Modified Series, where he had twelve starts finishing in the top fifteen in points.

Third generation competitor Nicholas, 15, ran his first full campaign in the 2022 season in the Auto Value Sportsman division. He had six top ten finishes in 16 starts. Nicholas has two goals for the 2023 season and that would be to win his first career feature victory and to be more consistant on the Land of Legends Raceway half-mile oval. He is currently a freshman at Geneva High School.

Kevin had a late start in his racing career, starting out in go-karts, spending about ten years here before moving into stock cars. He also helped out with some of the more prolific Modified drivers in DIRTcar history such as Tim McCreadie, Alan Johnson, Vic Coffey and Brett Hearn. Kevin got his first taste of short track racing when he was a youngster when he would accompany his father Kevin Sr to several local tracks. Kevin said his late entrance into racing was due to his employment status.

Sponsoring both race teams for the 2023 season is FX Caprara Honda, Four Star Motorsports, Swift Springs, Keizer Wheels, Scott Jeffery Performance, Madsen Overhead Doors, JP Custom and Cycle, Ed Kosakowski Heating and Plumbing, Jeffrey

Machine, Roots Tire and Auto, VP Racing Fuel, Precision and Donath Motor Worx.
