Sportsman/Hobby double June 26, Big-Block/Street Stock twins July 10, 2 CRSA mains Aug. 14

Canandaigua, NY – June 19, 2021 – Gary Spaid, Land of Legends Raceway PR

With qualifying events already complete for all five classes, rains arrived from the south at 7:55 p.m. in Land Of Legends Raceway’s latest ‘Saturday Spectacular presented by A-Verdi Storage Containers. The wet weather stayed around in force for 20 minutes, just enough to end the racing action as the track became too slick for further competition.

Twenty-three 305s signed in for round #2 of the SuperGen Products with Champion Power Equipment CRSA Sprint Car Series in Canandaigua. Heat winners for the winged warriors were all-time LOLR sprint winner Darryl Ruggles, female flash Alysha Bay and last week’s fairgrounds feature winner Brandyn Griffin.

The redraw took place in the pit area when the rains hit. Bay and Jason Whipple selected front row starting positions in the 20-lap A-Main that has been rescheduled for Aug. 14 when the CRSA Series returns to Land of Legends a third time in another Saturday Spectacular.

Twenty-two Pepsi Big-Blocks, 34 Speed Connection Sportsman, 17 Eldredge & Sons Scrap Recycling Street Stocks and 11 Lloyd’s Contracting Hobby Stocks were also on hand for a big night of racing at the historic half-miler. Sportsman and Hobby Stock qualifiers are scheduled to make up their features next week, June 26, while the Big-Block and Street Stock contenders are scheduled to run their main event make-ups on July 10.

Prior to postponement, two major incidents took place in the heat races. In the first CRSA preliminary, Kyle Pierce flopped onto his side in turn four on lap two. The safety crew righted his machine but a fuel leak forced Pierce to sit out the rest of the qualifier.

In the follow-up incident, rookie Sportsman driver Brandon Grover spun and made contact with the fourth turn wall in heat two. He was unable to return to the track the remainder of the night.
